“The country just finished a nationwide effort to get people to clean up plastic and other trash from beaches. He also said, “Three million young people picked up almost 13 tons of plastic trash.”
He also said that the country hopes that an international alliance on biodiversity will sign a treaty this year that will be legally binding.
“India’s culture has always been based on the sea. India agrees with the French idea of a high-stakes alliance on biodiversity that goes beyond national borders. We want to see a fully binding international treaty this year,” Modi said.
The Economic Survey 2021-22, just released, said India has successfully met Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It also emphasized the need to start the one-word movement “LIFE,” which stands for “Lifestyle for Environment,” and encourages people to use resources carefully instead of mindlessly and in a way that hurts the environment.
The Survey also found that India has been a climate leader on the world stage through the World Solar Alliance (ISA), the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), and the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT Group).
